New Delhi: Amid sharp criticism of Rahul Gandhi for going on 'sabbatical' ahead of the key Budget Session of Parliament, a Congress leader has claimed that the party vice president is camping in Uttarakhand.

Jagdish Kumar Sharma, national vice president, Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), posted pictures of Rahul Gandhi camping near Gangotri in the hills of Uttarakhand.

Denying that Rahul was holidaying abroad, Sharma said on Twitter that the Congress scion was in Uttarakhand and not in Bangkok.

Confirming the development, he also told a TV news channel today that Rahul visits Uttarakhand every year.

He further told ANI, “I posted pictures of Rahul ji to debunk the reports that were doing the rounds about him being in Bangkok.”

Rahul's office has, however, reportedly denied the claims that the party vice-president was in Uttarakhand. His office claimed the pictures circulating on Twitter are from a 2008 trip, said reports.

Congress leaders had said that Rahul was taking a few weeks' leave from the party to reflect upon recent election results and prepare for the AICC meet in April.

Here are some of the pictures of Rahul Gandhi which Sharma posted on Twitter:
