Delhi: Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said on Wednesday that he had massive personal energy.
In an interview to CNN-News18, Tharoor when asked about one quality that he admired in the PM said, "His personal energy."
He was further quoted as saying about the PM - "He is seemingly tireless in his domestic and international travels, maintains a punishing schedule of engagements and speeches, and his voice and spirit never flags."
The Lok Sabha MP added, "Whether you agree with him or not, this is an admirable quality."
Tharoor also talked about a host of issues in his interview with the news channel like surgical strikes and the future of Congress party.
To be noted is the fact that Tharoor had accepted the Prime Minister's invitation to join the 'Clean India' campaign and has in recent past praised PM Modi's campaign on Yoga.
At one time, he had also remarked that the Prime Minister leaves a positive impact on the countries he visits.
On the other hand, in July last year, PM Modi had also praised Tharoor for his debating skills.
"What Shashi ji said (at the Oxford debate recently) has now gone viral on Youtube," he had said praising the passionate argument in Oxford put forward by the Congress leader in demanding reparation payments from the UK to India for 200 years of its colonial rule.
Tharoor's speech gelled with the feelings of patriotic Indians on the issue and also shows what impression one can leave with effective arguments by saying the right things at the right place, PM Modi had added.
The Prime Minister had made the comments at the inauguration of Speaker's Research Initiative for Parliamentarians at the Parliament House complex here.
Seated in the front row, Tharoor had acknowledged the Prime Minister's praise for him with a smile.
The Congress MP was among the few non-BJP MPs who had been present in the gathering that had included veteran saffron party leader LK Advani, ministers and MPs belonging to BJP and its allies.
Ironically, the PM's praise had come a day after Tharoor was pulled up by Congress president Sonia Gandhi for leaking his remarks against party's stalling tactics in Parliament on the issue of scams.
