Congress sets up panel to celebrate Ambedkar birth anniversary

The Congress has set up a high level committee at the party level to hold functions for a year from April 14 to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of B R Ambedkar in the Union Territory.

Puducherry: The Congress has set up a high level committee at the party level to hold functions for a year from April 14 to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of B R Ambedkar in the Union Territory.

PCC President A V Subramanian, who is the head of the committee, said in a release here today that the panel includes AICC General Secretary and former Union Minister V Narayanasamy and Leader of the Opposition V Vaithilingam.

Party legislators A Namaissivayam and K Lakshminarayanan, former legislators M.Kandasamy and R.Kamalakannan, the chairman of the SC wing in the PCC S.Veeramuthu and chairman of the Most Backward class wing A.R.Selvaganapathy are the other members.

Former legislator Neela Gangadharan is the convenor of the committee which would chalk out various programmes for the year long celebrations of the birth anniversary of the leader in the Union Territory, the release said.
