CRPF raises country's maiden female bike-borne 'Janbaaz' team

New Delhi: CRPF has raised country's first all women bike-borne commando 'Janbaaz' squad which will display its daring skills next month in the national capital.
Breaking yet another proverbial glass ceiling, these women in 'khaki' will set the road blazing on powerful Bullet motorcycles undertaking difficult manoeuvres onboard, both individually and as a team.

Till now, male commando units of defence forces and the Border Security Force used to undertake these dare-devil stunts on motorcycles.

"This is the first time an all-women team has been prepared for this special stunt which requires a lot of training and working acumen. They are the female version of the male 'Janbaaz' teams of the BSF or defence forces," a senior Central Reserve Police Force officer said.

These women on bikes, the officer said, are expected to enthral the audience for the first time when they will blaze past on Rajpath from India Gate sometime next month.

The 70-member team has been raised after choosing some of the best women combatants in the force, tasked for conducting anti-Naxal operations and counter-insurgency duties in various states, who have been earlier trained in high-risk duties.

This is the first time that the about three-lakh strong personnel force has brought together a unit of women commandos for undertaking such a high skill task.

The officer said the women dare-devils are in the ranks of constable and are adept at firing and unarmed combat.
