Guntur: Three days after Hyderabad Central University's Dalit PhD scholar Rohith Vemula killed himself over alleged caste bias, the protests trigerred by his suicide continued across campuses in several cities on Wednesday.

Here are some of the facts about Rohith Vemula which you may not aware of:- 

- Hailing fron Andhra's Guntur, Rohit Vemula had bagged prestigious CSIR fellowship as he cracked test in the first go

- He was also awarded Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) at Hyderabad Central University

- He had a double JRF (cracked the exam twice)

 

- His father works as a security guard, while mother is a tailor

- Out of around Rs 20,000 that he received as fellowship amount, used to send some amount to his parents too

 

- His younger brother works for National Geographical Research Institute 

- He was pro at explaining complex theories in simple words

- He had a deep interest in literature ad politics; wrote several short stories, peoms

- He was as great admirer of Dr BR Ambedkar

- He was of the belief that there should be no place for religion in his life
