New Delhi: The semi-naked body of a 24-year-old woman was found in the forested area of northwest Delhi's Bhalswa Dairy today.
The body was found in a semi-naked state, for which it is suspected that the woman was sexually assaulted before she was strangled to death, said police.
However, the cause and time of death and possibility of sexual assault can be confirmed only after the post mortem, said police.
The woman, who was identified as a student pursuing a vocational course in fashion designing, lived with her family at northwest Delhi's Mukandpur area, said police.
She was reported missing since the wee hours today and a complaint was registered with the police.
Around 5.40 pm, locals noticed a body in a forested area under the jurisdiction of Bhalswa Dairy area, around a kilometre away from the woman's residence, and informed the police.
During investigation, it emerged that she went out with two persons when none of family members were at home, said police.
While the woman's brothers live in Saudi Arabia, her parents had gone to their native village in UP, said police.
When the woman's parents couldn't communicate with her for few hours, they informed the neighbours, who searched the locality.
And when they failed to find her, they reported the family's relatives in the city, whosoever they could communicate with, said police.
It was around 11 am, they approached the police and a missing complaint was registered, and investigation started.
Soon it became clear that the accused were known to her but the motive of the crime is yet to be ascertained, said police.
