New Delhi: In a bid to address the growing challenges in law enforcement, the Delhi Police is all set to begin the use of Taser guns, a non-lethal gun that stuns suspects without endangering lives.
The Delhi Police will get the first lot of Tasers tomorrow, making them the first law enforcement agency in the country to them, the Hindustan Times reported.
As per the report, each Taser X2 gun costs1 lakh.
The Taser gun releases a electro-magnetic pulse in the form of a laser which paralyses the suspect and leaves him on the ground for 15-20 seconds – enough time for the law enforcers to make their move.
Importantly, a video attached to the gun also begins recording the sequence as soon as the trigger is pressed.
The reported added that Tasers will be first deployed during VIP security and chasing suspects after dark.
