New Delhi: Hitting out at opposition protests against the Land Acquisition Ordinance , Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday said the engine of growth needs to restart in the country.

"We have had enough of politics, now we need the engine of growth should restart in the country. There are a lot of disinformation campaigns going on. Some people are misled and some people are misleading. We have the best interests of farmers at heart," said Naidu.

He also expressed surprise over some parties saying that farmers' interest is going to be hurt.

"I am surprised, some of the parties which are now saying farmers interest is going to be hurt, their own chief minister have reduced the four time compensation to 2.2 times. They need to explain who is pro-farmer and who is anti-farmer, instead of making political allegations," Naidu added.

The Congress party will today hold a mega rally called 'Zameen Wapsi Andolan' at Jantar Mantar to oppose the BJP government's land acquisition ordinance.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had yesterday joined social activist Anna Hazare at his protest at Jantar Mantar against the ordinance.

Kejriwal termed the ordinance 'anti-farmer and anti-poor' and stated that if it was passed, the Government would act like a property dealer for big corporate honchos.
