Mumbai: In a dramatic twist, media tycoon Peter Mukerjea was arrested by CBI in high-profile Sheena Bora murder case on Thursday.
Peter knew about Sheena's murder?
According to sources, Peter was arrested after Indrani told the CBI sleuths that he was aware of the Sheena Bora murder.
Also, the probe team was not convinced with his statement that he was not aware of the whole crime.
His arrest comes hours after CBI filed a chargesheet in a magistrate's court in Mumbai in which former media magnate Indrani Mukherjee and two others have been named as accused.
The chargesheet was filed three months after Sheena Bora's remains were found in a forest near Mumbai.
Flip-flop by Peter
Sources in the probe agency said that he has been arrested for allegedly "shielding the accused" and "inconsistencies" in his statements.
He is likely to be produced before a Mumbai court on Friday.
Sheena Bora case
24-year-old Sheena Bora was allegedly murdered by her mother, Indrani's ex husband Sanjeev Khanna and her former driver Shyamvar Rai in April 2012 and her body was dumped in a forest in Raigad district.
Indrani, Khanna and Rai are currently lodged in judicial custody which is due to expire on Friday.
