Furkan, not Tiger Memon, arrested in Pakistan

A person threatening people in the name of Mumbai serial blasts mastermind 'Tiger Memon' was arrested by authorities during raids in Pakistan's Karachi.

New Delhi: A person threatening people in the name of Mumbai serial blasts mastermind Tiger Memon was arrested by authorities during raids in Pakistan's Karachi on Wednesday.

The man was later identified as Furkan who was wanted in several cases in Pakistan.

Furkan's arrest initially triggered intense speculation in the national media that Tiger Memon, the prime conspirator of 1993 Mumbai blasts, was arrested in Pakistan.

The man in question is accused of harassing girls and threatening people in the name of fugitive underworld don Tiger Memon.

Tiger Memon is wanted by the Interpol and the CBI in connection with the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts after which he flew to Dubai and has been hiding since then.

Tiger Memon, the alleged mastermind of the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, called up his family just an hour ahead of his younger brother Yakub's execution at the Nagpur Central Jail on July 30.

According to a report published in a leading daily, The Economic Times, Tiger Memon, the man solely responsible for the Mumbai carnage, talked to his family members in Mumbai and pledged to avenge his younger brother Yakub's execution by the Government of India.
