New Delhi: Supreme Court Justice TS Thakur on Tuesday said he was amused when his staff asked him when he was going to Varanasi for the Ganga cleaning as Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti wanted to accompany him, and told them to tell her he was merely hearing the matter in court.

He said his office received a call from the minister`s office saying she had has cancelled all her programmes to be with Justice Thakur when he goes to Varanasi for Ganga cleaning programme, and sought to know his schedule.

Recalling the anecdote at the fag end of Tuesday`s hearing of the challenge to Bihar Police Act being heard by the bench headed by him, Justice Thakur said he told his staff to convey to the minister that he was hearing the Ganga cleaning matter but was not himself doing it.
