Indo-US nuclear deal: Negotiations on Administrative Agreement in advanced stage

Negotiations for finalisation of Administrative Agreement under the Indo-US nuclear cooperation is in advanced stage, the government said on Thursday.

New Delhi: Negotiations for finalisation of Administrative Agreement under the Indo-US nuclear cooperation is in advanced stage, the government said on Thursday.

"Arrangements and procedures pursuant to article 6 (iii) was signed on July 20, 2010 concerning reprocessing or other alteration in form or content of nuclear material etc."

"The agreement (between India and US) provides for establishment of an Administrative Agreement to implement the provisions of the agreement. Negotiations for finalisation of this Administrative Arrangement are in an advanced stage," Minister of State for Department of Atomic Energy Jitendra Singh said in a written response to the Rajya Sabha.

He added that the government was open to placing civilian nuclear facilities under IAEA safeguards as per the Separation Plan of 2006. "There are no strategic facilities on this list," Singh added.
