JNU professors sexually harass girl students, administration acts like a Khap panchayat: Student

New Delhi: Even as the nationalism issue continues to rock the Jawaharlal Nehru University, a video of an AISA member claiming that sexual harassment of girl students pursuing PhD degree is rampant in the campus, is doing the rounds.

In the video, All India Students’ Association (AISA) member Shehla Rashid Shora is seen addressing students about the sexual harassment cases, in which many powerful JNU professors are involved.

While claiming that many professors sexually harass the girls who are enrolled in various PhD programmes in the reputed institute, Shehla says that when a girl comes forward with her complaint, she is not given a proper hearing and instead her victimisation is done by the administration.

While accusing the JNU administration of shielding the accused in such cases, the AISA member says there is a whole lobby of the powerful teachers in the campus, who just let the accused go scot free.

The video dates back to 09 March, 2014.

The JNU student says that several protests were held to stop such atrocities, but no action was taken.

She described the JNU administration as behaving like a Khap panchayat.
