New Delhi: Retired Indian Army jawan Munawwar Ahmad Mir, who had fought Kargil war in 1999, has been arrested by Delhi Police on charges of spying for Pakistan's intelligence service ISI.

He was arrested on Friday from Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir by a team of inter-state cell of Crime Branch.

He has been arrested for being part of the espionage racket, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav stated.

"Mir had joined the army in 1995 and took retirement in 2011 after serving in a Rashtriya Rifles (Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry) battalion," Yadav was quoted as saying by IANS.

Furthermore, the 41-year-old man was being produced before the concerned court in Jammu and Kashmir for seeking his transit remand for bringing him to Delhi for further interrogation, Yadav added.

However, going by some reports Mir, who is also a part of PDP in J&K, has denied such charges, stating he is being falsely accused.
