Kidney transplant – main reason behind Chhota Rajan's 'surrender' in Bali?

Mumbai: Mafia don Rajendra Sadashiv Nikhalje alias Chhota Rajan is believed to have planned his arrest as suffers from kidney trouble and needs an urgent kidney transplant.

The media reports on Wednesday said that Rajan, the powerful aide-turned-rival of terrorist Dawood Ibrahim, is seriously unwell as both of his kidneys have failed and he is on constant dialysis.

Earlier this year, a relative of the 55-year-old mafia don volunteered to donate one of his kidney to him. However, as Rajan was on Interpol list, he was not able to find a safe multi-speciality hospital to undergo the operation for kidney transplant.

Thus, finding no option, Rajan, who began his underworld journey as a black-marketer of movie tickets before embracing murders, extortion, kidnappings, orchestrated his arrest with the help of Indian intelligence agencies, the reports said.

Chhota Rajan, one of the India's most wanted gangster, was arrested in the tourist town of Bali, Indonesia, on a Red Corner Notice issued by Interpol after eluding law enforcement agencies for over two decades.

The arrest was made on a tip off from the Australian Police that 55-year-old Rajan has flown from Sydney to Bali.
