Man held with gold worth Rs 10 lakh hidden in rectum at Bengaluru airport

New Delhi: The Custom officials at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International airport on Saturday arrested a 40-year-old man for trying to smuggle gold worth Rs 10 lakh. 

The accused, Vijay Ashok Kumar Wadwani from Thane in Maharashtra, was hiding the 330 grams of gold biscuits in his rectum.  

According to a report in the Time of India, Wadwani had arrived from Sri Lankan Airlines-UL 173 flight that came from Colombo. Acting on a tip-off, Custom officials nabbed Wadwani and found the gold during deep frisking.

Officials are tracking his antecedents to know his past record. 

In a similar incident, a 53-year-old woman was arrested after she was found carrying 1.17 kg of gold biscuits in her rectum on May 10.
