New Delhi: Minister of State for Home Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary's statement that the concept of marital rape cannot be applied in India as marriage is considered as a "sacrament" in the country has triggered a huge row.
The issue is generating a lot of heat on social media.
Some responses on Twitter:
If 75% indian women are raped then high probability that 75% of the MPs are also rapists, Pass the #maritalrape law & prosecute them first

Of course you can be against #MaritalRape law, but to base it on the premise that women are all going to lie en masse is... well, stupid.

If marriage is sacred then ensure that both partners respect the sacred bond by respecting consent of the other person. STOP #MaritalRape.
