New Delhi: Days after the announcement that Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav will come together to reincarnate the Janata Dal, the two Yadavs are set to turn the political friendship into relationship.

Mulayam's grand-nephew Tej Pratap is set to tie the knot with Lalu Prasad's youngest daughter Raj Lakshmi. The engagement is being planned for mid-December followed by a grand wedding in February next year.

After Mulayam vacated his seat from the family stronghold of Mainpuri, Tej Pratap entered Lok Sabha contesting from it.

The political class is seeing the news of the marriage as the prelude to the mega merger that the Janata Dal breakaways are planning.

The two party chiefs had sparred during the 1990s for leadership of the Mandal classes and Mulayam had even publicly regretted when Lalu vetoed his name for prime ministership in the United Front government in 1997.

But the new coming together will help erase the bitter momories that the two might have.
