New Delhi: Sugata Bose, the great grand nephew of freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose, on Tuesday said that Home Minister Rajnath Singh should clarify who ordered the surveillance as evidence has already supported the claim.
“The evidence already supports the claim that surveillance of family members took place. Home Minister should clarify who ordered the surveillance,” he told ANI.
He added that the written answer given to them was “vague” and hoped that the government is taking the matter seriously.
The reaction came shortly after the Minister of State for Home Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary told Lok Sabha that the government has no plans to order a probe into the reports of surveillance on family members of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose by the Intelligence Bureau for 20 years.
Meanwhile, Chandra Kumar Bose, who is Netaji's grandnephew, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked for more time on the issue of declassification of files related to the freedom fighter.
“PM Modi has given us assurance; let us give him some time,” he was quoted by ANI.
He said that 100 files with the central government and 64 with West bengal government needs to be declassified to find out the truth about Netaji's disappearance.
“The snooping angle will also be clarified, the moment these files are put in the public domain,” he added.
At the same time he said, "It is no longer a family issue. How can elected government reject people's demand of declassification of Netaji files?" Chandra Kumar Bose said.
Surya Kumar Bose, another Netaji's grandnephew and elder brother of Chandra Bose had met PM Modi in Berlin earlier this month and sought declassification of all secret files amid a row over reported snooping on the leader's close relatives.
