No bureaucrat has resigned in the last three years to take up jobs in private sector, but a total of 26 such officials have left job due to personal reasons, Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday.

New Delhi: No bureaucrat has resigned in the last three years to take up jobs in private sector, but a total of 26 such officials have left job due to personal reasons, Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday.

Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said 11 IAS and 15 IRS officers resigned from their respective service during the last three years on personal ground.

In a written reply, he said no prior permission is required for officers who have resigned to join other organisations.

However, as per All India Services Rules, for officers who retires from service, prior permission of government is required if they wish to accept post retirement commercial employment before the expiry of one year from the date of their retirement.

"Taking into account the strength of All India Services, the number of IAS, IPS and IRS officers tendering of resignation is within the normal limit as per record maintained by the respective cadre controlling authorities," he said.
