There is no proposal at present before the government to reduce the upper age limit and number of attempts in civil service examination, the Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday.

New Delhi: There is no proposal at present before the government to reduce the upper age limit and number of attempts in civil service examination, the Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday.

"At present, no such proposal is under consideration of the government," Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said. He was asked whether the central government proposes to reduce the upper age limit and number of attempts in civil services examination.

In his written reply, Singh also said several representations have been received from various quarters on issues concerning the scheme of civil service examination (CSE).

"After due consideration, the central government has decided that in the Paper-II of Civil Services (Preliminary) examination, the marks of question-section on 'English language comprehension skills' are not to be included for gradation or merit, in the CSE 2014.

"It has also been decided that candidates who appeared in CSE 2011 would be given one more attempt in CSE 2015," the minister said.
