Pakistan has violated ceasefire in Saujian sector of Jammu and Kashmir, hours before celebrations of Independence Day begins in the country.
Srinagar: Pakistan has violated ceasefire in Saujian sector of Jammu and Kashmir, hours before celebrations of Independence Day begins in the country.
The Pakistani troops have violated the ceasefire for the fifth day on Thursday.
Earlier in the day, the Pak rangers targeted scores of Indian posts and civilian areas in three districts of Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch, drawing retaliation from the Army.
The latest escalation from Pakistani side is apparently aimed at helping militants to infiltrate from across the border ahead of India's Independence Day to carry out attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, officials were quoted as saying by PTI.
There have been 26 violations of the 2003 ceasefire in August this year and it is fifth consecutive day of firing and shelling by Pakistan along LoC in Jammu region.
Last month, there were 19 ceasefire violations in which four persons, including three jawans, were killed and 14 others injured.
