On New Year's eve, President hopes for inclusive society, women's safety

Wishing people on the eve of New Year President Pranab Mukherjee urged everyone to abhor violence and promote pluralism and understanding amongst all communities.



Delhi: Wishing people on the eve of New Year President Pranab Mukherjee urged everyone to abhor violence and promote pluralism and understanding amongst all communities.

He also hoped that “development reaches the poor and under privileged across the length and breadth of the country” and also wished for “protection of women and greater gender sensitivity”.

On the issue of governance the President said, “Governance at all levels, must become efficient, transparent, accountable and citizen friendly,” and added, “Let us take new beginnings and important initiatives launched in 2014 to fruition.”

He further said, “Let us work with heart and soul and without distraction, to take our nation to new heights of achievement.”
