Ernakulam: Continuing with his criticism of the Narendra Modi government’s on year in power, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi alleged that the poor and marginalised sections of the society are struggling to survive.

Speaking to reporters after he met different sections of the society in Kerala, Rahul said, “I just met rubber farmers and their organisations, they have very specific issues with the central government which they have asked to raise and we will raise it at appropriate time and place.”

“Anybody who is poor, anybody who is weak, who is struggling...farmers, labourers, small business people are not happy with this government (NDA).”

“I have said many many times that 5-6 powerful friends of this government are happy, rest of india is wondering what is happening,” he added attacking the Modi government.

“We will fight for the weak and those struggling in the country and make sure their voices are heard,” he stressed.

Earlier in the day, Rahul, while attending a fishermen’s rally, said, "Whenever the government tries to take away the rights of poor, we will fight against it," he said.

Criticising Modi, Gandhi said, "He is under the impression that the poor people do not make this country."

Yesterday, while addressing a massive rally of Youth Congress workers at Kozhikode, Rahul had taken a dig at the Modi government saying he wished the 'suit boot ki sarkar', which completed one year in office on Tuesday, a happy birthday.
