'People known for religiosity should choose their words carefully', says Farooqui

New Delhi: Former Samajwadi Party leader Kamal Farooqui on Monday said people who are known for their religiosity should be very careful in choosing their words.

He was responding to Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Sadhvi Prachi's family planning remarks, and added that India's greatest problem is its increasing population.

"Unfortunately, all these statements are being made by the people who are known for their religiosity. Whether it is Sakshi Maharaj or this Sadhvi, in fact, they should have been very careful in choosing their words. When they talk something which is incorrect, I feel ashamed. If they are making any statement which is incorrect, it is highly condemnable," said Farooqui.

"The population of Hindus is not decreasing. The census has very clearly stated that the population is increasing in the same ratio. Second, they have taken the love-jihad. India is a secular country and will continue to develop like that only," he added.

Sadhvi Prachi made her remarks in the Bhilwara district of Rajasthan, where she called for a law to ensure a 'hum do, hamare char' policy to realise the dream of a Hindu nation.
