New Delhi: A plea was made in Lok Sabha on Wednesday for provision of offices to the people's representatives like MPs so that the developmental works continue uninterupted.

Raising the issue in Zero Hour, BJP member Mahesh Giri said development works suffer as the law-makers do not have fixed offices through which they cound know about the ongoing works and the efforts made their predecessors in their constituencies.

Giri received support from several members from various states who wanted such an office so that they could work more effectively.

Jaiprakash Yadav (RJD) and Suresh Angadi (BJP) voiced concern over the heavy loss to farmers in various parts of the country during the recent unseasonal rains.

While Angadi spoke about the havoc caused by the rains in his constituency in Karnataka, Yadav said several areas of Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punab, Haryana and Rajasthan were hit by the unseasonal rains.

They wanted central help to alleviate the woes of farmers.

BJP member Hema Malini drew the government's attention to the plight of the Braj region comprising Mathura and adjoining areas due to pollution in Yamuna caused by sewage water and industrial waste from Delhi and Haryana.

She said deadly diseases like cancer have seen a rise in the area due to the contaminated water. She sought release of water from Hathnikund barrage to deal with the situation.

She also wanted a clean Yamuna campaign like clean Ganga.
