New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hosted a pre-Diwali dinner for the Council of Ministers where he stressed on keeping up the momentum of the cleanliness mission launched by him earlier this month.
Shiv Sena representative in the Union Cabinet Anant Geete attended the dinner.
He said as the BJP-Sena alliance at the Centre continues, he attended the dinner.
At the meeting, Modi also asked the union ministers to ensure that the chain initiated by him to make the programme a people's movement continues.
Addressing a meeting of the Council of Ministers at his official residence, Modi said the Clean India or Swachh Bharat Mission should continue in all parts of the country and the momentum generated by it should be maintained.
Sources said Modi also asked the ministers to ensure that the chain initiated by him on October 2 while launching the programme grows in numbers.
In his bid to make 'Swachh Bharat' a people's movement, Modi had initiated on Gandhi Jayanti a chain by inviting nine eminent personalities including cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, industrialist Anil Ambani along with several actors to spread awareness on cleanliness.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers was followed a dinner. The 'Diwali eve' dinner, as some named it, had a lavish spread of North and South Indian dishes.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers preceded a meeting of the Union Cabinet in the evening.
