PM Modi gifts Khamsa-i-Khusrau's reproduction to Uzbek President Karimov

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived here today on the first leg of his eight-day tour to five central Asian countries and Russia, presented a specially commissioned reproduction of the Khamsa-i-Khusrau to Uzbek President Islam Karimov.

Tashkent: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived here today on the first leg of his eight-day tour to five central Asian countries and Russia, presented a specially commissioned reproduction of the Khamsa-i-Khusrau to Uzbek President Islam Karimov.

Written in Persian by the great 13th century Sufi poet Amir Khusrau and profusely decorated and illuminated with various colours, including gold and ultramarine, the work is a part of the manuscripts collection of National Museum in Delhi.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi met his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev, whom he thanked for the warm welcome accorded to him upon his arrival.
