PM Modi to inaugurate stadium in Sri Lanka through video conferencing today

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena will jointly inaugurate a stadium, which was recently renovated by India, in Jaffna today.

PM Modi will join event through video conferencing.

Some 8000 people will also join the event at Duraiappah Stadium where a yoga demonstration is also being organised to mark the International Yoga Day, which is on June 21.

In 2014, the United Nations had declared June 21 as the International Yoga Day.

The stadium, named in honour of former mayor of Jaffna late Alfred Thambirajah Duraiappah, has been recently renovated by India at a cost of over Rs.7 crore.

This will be the first major stadium at the renovated stadium.

More than 8000 people are expected to participate in a yoga demonstration to celebrate the second International Yoga Day, the PMO said.
