PM Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' has become preaching: Congress

The Congress on Sunday alleged that Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' programme has become like a moral lecture.

New Delhi: The Congress on Sunday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' programme has become like a moral lecture and preaching without any positive outcome.

"There is nothing special in his 'Mann ki Baat' these days. It has become like a moral preaching, and I don't understand what will be its outcome. We do not want to know from the Prime Minister what the world should do. We would like to know what your government is doing. There is nothing new in the schemes too. He has presented the schemes, which were there during our time," Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit told ANI.

Echoing similar sentiments, another Congress leader Shobha Oza said Prime Minister Modi addresses many issues, while the people of the nation expect him to talk about unemployment, inflation and intolerance.

"He does not take up issues and talks on new things. The people will obviously expect from the Prime Minister to also discuss these issues," she added.

Addressing the 14th edition of his ' Mann Ki Baat' programme, the Prime Minister drew the nation's attention towards climate change.

Prime Minister Modi talked about LED bulb scheme. He referred to Noor Jehaan of Kanpur Uttar Pradesh who has set up a solar lantern plant and lends out solar lantern to housewives at 100 rupees per month.

Referring to burning of crop residues by farmers in Punjab and Haryana, the Prime Minister said these residues are valuable and can be cut into small pieces and converted into organic manure.

He gave several suggestions on making good use of crop residue.

Conveying sympathies to the people of Tamil Nadu affected by recent floods, he said heavy downpour and unseasonal rainfalls are also impact of global warming.

Prime Minister Modi also spoke about Ek Bahrat Shrestha Bharat scheme and asked the people to come forward with more suggestions to give the programme a specific shape.
