Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his two-day visit to his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi on Saturday. Here are the updates from his engagements on day two in the holy city:
10:30 am: PM Modi concludes his Varanasi visit, leaves for Delhi.
9:45 am: PM Modi has now left the Anandamayi ashram. He will depart for Delhi shortly.
9:25 am: PM Modi is now visiting the ashram-cum-hospital of spiritual leader Shri Anandamayi Maa in Varanasi.
9:10 am: I hope these nine people will further nominate nine more persons each to take forward the Clean India drive.
9:09 am: The nine persons are Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Jagadguru Rambhadracharya of Chitrakoot Handicapped University, BJP MLA Manoj Tiwari, Manu Sharma, cricketer Mohammad Kaif, Padmashree Prof Devi Prasad Dwivedi, TV comedian Raju Srivastava, cricketer Suresh Raina and singer Kailash Kher.
9:08 am: Like earlier, I am nominating nine persons as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
9:07 am: Social organisations here have assured me that they will clean up the entire ghat in a month – Modi.
9:07 am: I have launched the clean up drive at Assi Ghat – Modi.
9:06 am: PM Modi is now speaking.
8:57 am: PM Modi along with other volunteers is cleaning up the ghat with the help of a spade.
8:56 am: PM Narendra Modi is now taking part in a clean-up drive at the Assi Ghat along river Ganga.
8:55 am: While praying amid chants of hymns, PM Modi also offered a 'sankalp' of Rs 501 to 'Maa Ganga'.
8:52 am: It may be recalled that during his recent visit to Japan, PM Modi had signed an MoU to develop Varanasi into a smart city. On Friday, Modi had adopted Jayapur village in Varanasi as part of the 'Saansad adarsh gram yojana'.
8:50 am: After offering prayers to river Ganga, PM Modi will also take part in a clean-up drive as part of his 'Clean India' mission.
