PM Narendra Modi to lay foundation stone for Urja Ganga project in Varanasi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today visit his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi where he will launch a number of projects including a 1,500-km-long gas pipeline costing Rs. 51,000 crore.

Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today visit his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi where he will launch a number of projects including a 1,500-km-long gas pipeline costing Rs. 51,000 crore.

Prime Minister Modi will launch `Urja Ganga`, the gas pipeline project which promises to provide piped cooking gas to residents of Varanasi within two years.He is also scheduled to flag off projects like doubling of railway tracks on the busy Allahabad-Varanasi section and expansion of the Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) at Varanasi besides laying foundation stone for a fully air-conditioned perishable cargo centre.

He will also release a stamp dedicated to Varanasi, which is believed to be among the oldest surviving ones in the world.Besides, he will lay the foundation stone for widening of a road passing through the city`s crowded Cantonment area.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister will address a rally near Police Line in Mahoba city.Elaborate arrangements have been made in view of Prime Minister Modi`s visit to the town in Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh.

The region has been facing drought like situation for last few years and water scarcity is major problem in this area.The Prime Minister is expected to announce water management project and scheme for the region.

Besides water and irrigation problems, lack of infrastructure and industry is also cause of distress for people of the region.Linking of Ken and Betwa rivers are also on long time plan as a solution for irrigation in the region.
