New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday extended his greetings and felicitations to the governments and people of Trinidad and Tobago, Malaysia and Kyrgyz Republic on the eve of their National Day.

In his message to Anthony Carmona, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Mukherjee said that the convergence of the country's views on many international issues of common interest, being developed further through the common platform of CARICOM, brings the two nations even closer.

"I am confident that these bonds between us will continue to strengthen in the years to come," he said in an official release.

Extending his greetings to Malaysia, the President said that the ties between the two countries have strengthened substantively as they share the desire to deepen and broaden our multifaceted relationship to our mutual benefit.

"While we have broken new grounds in our economic relations, vast untapped potential still exists in areas like defence and security, health and education and people-to-people contacts. We look forward to strengthening our relations with Malaysia and working with you to advance regional cooperation," the release said.

In his message to Almazbek Atambaev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mukherjee said, "We, in India, admire the progress being made by the Kyrgyz Republic in establishing a parliamentary form of government with strong democratic institutions."

He said India and the Kyrgyz Republic enjoy traditionally close relations based on our shared values and historical and cultural linkages. India is committed to strengthening and expanding our bilateral relations for the mutual benefit of our two peoples.

He said that the recent visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Kyrgyz Republic has not only consolidated the bilateral relationship between the two nations, but has also opened up new avenues for enhancing the trade and economic cooperation between India and the Kyrgyz Republic.

"I would like to take this opportunity to convey my best wishes for your personal well being and the progress and prosperity of the friendly people of the Kyrgyz Republic," the release said.
