New Delhi: The Supreme Court will on Wednesday resume its hearing on Centre's plea against high court order that set aside the President's rule in Uttarakhand.
In a major reprieve for the Narendra Modi government, the apex court last week had stayed the Uttarakhand High Court order on lifting the President's Rule in the state till April 27.
The brief order by the a bench comprising Justices Dipak Misra and Shiva Kirti Singh came after it took an undertaking from the Centre that it will not revoke the President's rule.
Last Thursday, the Uttarakhand High Court had dealt a major blow to the Modi government when it set aside President's Rule in the state, imposed on March 27, restoring Congress leader Harish Rawat as chief minister.
Imposition of President's rule in Uttarakhand dominated both the houses of Parliament on Monday and Tuesday with the Congress raising the matter in the Lok Sabha and creating ruckus in Rajya Sabha, where no meaningful business could be conducted amid uproar.
The Congress has maintained that it will not compromise on the Uttarakhand issue and will not let parliament function till the issue was settled.
