Prices of porn DVDs are hitting the roof – find out why

New Delhi: Following the Centre's ban on pornographic websites, there was speculation whether nights will be as exciting as earlier.

However, the same has proved to be untrue with people flocking to movie rental shops and purchasing porn DVDs.

As per a report in The Times of India, sale of porn DVDs has registered a spike in several cities after internet service providers blocked access to over 800 sites following the government order.

With the increasing demand, prices of porn DVDs have also gone up and are hitting the roof.

In Delhi, people have been thronging markets like Palika Bazar, Lajpat Nagar and Paharganj where such adult content is available freely.

As per the daily, a DVD which used to cost Rs 100 till last week is not being sold for Rs 300.

In Kolkata too, prices have gone up by 20% to 30%. In Lucknow, the prices were reported to be 50% higher.

However, markets in Mumbai and Chennai continue sell porn DVDs at lower rates.

The government has, meanwhile, clarified that it is only aiming to block access to child porn.
