New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi has written to Home Minister Rajnath Singh, seeking revival of the mega food park project in his constituency Amethi and rejecting the contention of Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur that lack of gas availability was the impediment in the project.

"I sincerely hope that with your profound experience, you will help protect the farmers of Uttar Pradesh, which you have also served as Chief Minister, and ensure revival of the project", the Congress Vice President said in a letter written to Rajnath Singh, a senior BJP leader from the state.

Referring to the chronology given by Kaur about the project, Gandhi said, "neither land nor gas were impediments" to approval of the park, despite which her ministry went ahead and cancelled the approval to it on June 30,2014, barely a month after the BJP government was sworn-in.

He said he was "deeply dismayed" to read the reasons and chronology in Kaur's letter.

"(Harsimrat Kaur) Badal's ministry also denied the SPV's (Special Purpose Vehicle's) request dated June 26,2014, and June 30,2014 for extension of approval till September 30,2014 which I believe is against the farmers of Uttar Pradesh," he wrote..
