Bhopal: Focusing on ensuring cleanliness at railway stations, West Central Railway here caught 432 persons for littering and imposed a fine of Rs 43,200 of them under a drive.

The campaign has been launched as per directives of National Green Tribunal.

"As directed by the Tribunal, West Central Railways' Bhopal division has launched a drive to ensure cleanliness in station premises and inside trains. We have caught 432 people for soiling stations and trains and imposed a fine of Rs 43,200," Senior Divional Commercial Manager, Brajendra Kumar, said on Wednesday.

As per the directives, Railway Board has been asked to conduct the drive, which in turn has directed regional railway authorities to take appropriate measures in this regard, he said.

Railway authorities have appealed to passengers to cooperate with the rail administration to help keeping stations and trains clean.
