Rajnath Singh greets IAF personnel on their 82nd anniversary

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has Wednesday conveyed his greetings on the 82nd anniversary of Indian Air Force saying that IAF is one of the finest in the world.

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has Wednesday conveyed his greetings on the 82nd anniversary of Indian Air Force saying that IAF is one of the finest in the world.

Rajnath Singh said, "Today I salute our brave Air Force personnel who always lead by example. The IAF is one of the finest in the world."

"IAF is not only known for its combat capabilities but also for its active role in humanitarian operations in times of crisis and disaster,' he added.

To mark the occasion there IAF today conducted a Air Force Day Parade cum Investiture Ceremony at Air Force Station in national capital.

Air Force Day was officially observed for the first time on October 8, 1932, when it was an auxiliary air force of the British Indian Empire.

The Indian Air Force has 170,000 personnel and more than 1,400 aircraft. It is considered one of the leading air forces of world.

It has the responsibility of safeguarding Indian Territory from all risks and provide help during natural calamities in affected areas.
