New Delhi: In a respite from intense heatwave, Delhiites woke up to showers and pleasant weather on Sunday with Met Department predicting rains over several areas of northern and western part of the country in the next few days.

The cool weather spell is expected to last for next few days with the Met Department predicting rains and cloudy skies till the end of the week.

"Weather will be pleasant for next 2-3 days. Clouds will hover over parts of North and West India, rainfall will continue in coming days," India Meteorological Department (IMD) BP Yadav was quoted by a news agency on Saturday.

Heavy rains are expected in parts of Nagaland, Mizoram , Karnataka Kerala and Manipur over the next few days, Yadav said.

Delhi-NCR witnessed massive dust storm accompanied with dark clouds and rains yesterday reducing visibility to zero.

However, the change in the weather gave respite from the searing heat and reduced the temperature by two degrees.

From past few days Delhi has been witnessing dust storms, which have travelled from Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana, as per MeT officials.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, it is the Western Disturbance over the hills along with the induced cyclonic circulation over south Rajasthan that has increased the pre-Monsoon activity over North India.
