New Delhi: After failing to locate the IP addresses to track the exact location of alleged ISIS Twitter handle operator - Mehdi Masroor Biswas - AKA '@ShamiWitness', intelligence agency officials had to improvise to establish the identity of the 24-year-old executive.
Reports suggest that Britain's Channel 4 News had mentioned the ISIS tweeter's name as Mehdi, but intelligence officers were able to track 74 such 'Mehdi's' and questioning all of them was out of question.
They next used Mehdi's T-shirt, with which he had covered his face while talking to Channel4, and via a Google Application tried to match it with those who had posted images wearing a similar T-shirt.
A voice expert could narrow the search down thanks to Mehdi's thick Bengali accent and his vocal texture that matched with a twenty-odd-year-old man's voice.
A report in DNA suggests that by tracking engineering institutes located in Panihati and Kaikhali in West Bengal, sleuths could zero their search down to the Bengaluru-based executive working with a food conglomerate.
When cops raided Mehdi Masroor Biswas' one-room apartment in Jalahalli in Bengaluru late that night, he was found at his computer and did not evade arrest.
