New Delhi: Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, on Friday expressed shock and disgust over the gangrape of a 71-year-old nun in West Bengal and pressed for instant justice against such heinous crimes which bring shame to the country.

"Really shocks and disgusts me to read and watch the news on the rape of a 71-year-old woman, especially one who has dedicated her life to living under vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience and to serving all other living beings," he said in a statement here.

"When abroad, it's a shame to answer as an Indian, on the happenings in our country," Vadra said.

"the event of rapes in our country, seems to be out of frustrations and to simply overpower, could be little girls or older women" and "till there is no instant justice, no matter which strata of society they may belong to this heinous act will continue," He said.

The elderly nun was gang-raped in a convent in West Bengal last week.
