Ahmedabad: The invitation by Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University to RSS leader Indresh Kumar for convocation ceremony has created a controversy as the RSS leader is also an accused in Ajmer blast.

According to a report in TOI, the university has invited the top RSS leader as the chief guest for the institution's annual convocation ceremony; the move has stoked a row.

"The decision on invitation to Indresh Kumar was taken by vice-chancellor RL Godra," the varsity officials said.

The invitation card mentions the Ajmer blast accused and RSS leader Indresh Kumar as 'social reformer and defence expert'.

RSS leader Indresh Kumar is one of the accused named in a CBI chargesheet on the blast at an Ajmer shrine in 2007, which killed three people and injured more than a dozen.
