RSS' 'Manthan' meet: Mohan Bhagwat asks cadres to unite 'Hindu society'

Kampur: Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh's (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday asked the cadres to strengthen the organisation by expanding 'shakhas' (branch) in every village and work for uniting the 'Hindu society'.

Addressing thousands of organisation members at the railway ground here, Bhagwat said, “RSS will expand 'shakhas' in every village to strengthen organisation.”

Noting that the time has come when the entire society wants RSS and has expectations from it, Bhagwat further said that the organisation's job was to "unite the Hindu society" and this cannot be only through 'bhashans (lectures)'.

"The time has come when the entire society wants RSS and has expectations from it. To fulfill these expectations, the organisation must be expanded," the RSS chief said at 'Rashtra Raksha Sangam' here.

"It has to be brought into practice... What is the meaning of RSS shakha? We come together and forget everything else. Only 'bhagwa (saffron) flag' is in front of us and that is the symbol of pride," he added.

Bhagwat said, "Often the word 'show of strength' crops up. When we organise such programmes, it is said that these are show of strength by RSS. Those who do not have strength need to show it. We don't need to do that. We have our own strength. RSS moves ahead on the basis of its own strength. It is our 'atma darshan'."

He said, "In history, we were not behind anyone, but a handful of people made us slaves. In the last meeting of the Constituent Assembly, Dr (B R) Ambedkar said that the country was not lagging behind in anything, but due to selfishness some people gifted it to the Britishers on a silver platter and unless we practice brotherhood the threat will continue."

The RSS leader said there was nothing new in the ideology of RSS. "The new thing is its method. There is so much diversity in the country, irrespective of caste, language or regional differences we all consider Bharat as mother. We say Bharat Mata ki jai," he said.

Earlier in the day, the RSS' four-day meet 'Manthan' kick-started in this industrial town of Uttar Pradesh. According to reports, during the meet, Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) recent debacle in the Delhi polls, the future organisational strategy of the RSS and strategy for UP, Bihar polls are likely to be discussed.

VHP Awadh region secretary Bihari Mishra had yesterday said that the focus during the 'Manthan' will be on analysing the working of the main organisation and the shortcomings. "Ways to strengthen BJP with a focus on 2017 Assembly elections will be discussed," Mishra added.

He had also said that the meeting would include workers active in other organisations, including the BJP and VHP. It will also discuss the organisation's strategy to galvanise and energise the cadre with elections in key states Bihar and Uttar Pradesh not very far away.

As per a RSS functionary, after the rout in Delhi polls, the organisation has concentrated on its setup in Uttar Pradesh.

The second focus of the meet will be on the youth and how to get them associated directly with the RSS.
