Kolkata: Former Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation for questioning here in connection with the case related to the Saradha chit fund scam.
Sarma's house and a news channel, owned by his wife in Guwahati, was raided by the CBI was earlier in the month of August. He had on Monday sought more time to appear before the investigative agency.
The allegations against the minister are of taking protection money from Saradha boss Sudipto Sen. The CBI special unit set up by Supreme Court will grill the Congress legislature today.
Anjan Dutta who entered a business deal with Sen was grilled by the CBI on Monday.
