Paying his tribute to Ashok Singhal, RSS ideologue MG Vaidya said his contribution as the face of the organisation was immense.

Nagpur: Paying his tribute to former Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) president Ashok Singhal, RSS ideologue MG Vaidya on Tuesday said his contribution as the face of the organisation was immense.

"As far as I can recall, he was the RSS Pracharak of the Delhi division. Then after he had joined the VHP. He had immense contribution in making the face of Vishwa Hindu Parishad which we see today," Vaidya told ANI.

"It is not easy to work in the field of religion. It is very difficult to keep people of different ideologies together in a bunch. But that difficult work was extremely well done by Ashok Singhal ji. I pay my tributes to him," he added.

He insisted that the VHP has fought for Ram Temple and he played vital role in it. We have to have patience as this matter is under trial.

Singhal, who was admitted to the Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon for respiratory problems, passed away today afternoon. He was 89-years-old.

He was admitted to Medanta on October 20 after his condition deteriorated in Allahabad and was flown in to the national capital in an air ambulance.

Singhal had served as the VHP president for over 20 years until he was replaced by Praveen Togadia in December 2011 due to diminishing physical health.
