Singhvi slams decision to give 'Cabinet Minister status' to Ramdev

Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi has lashed out at the Haryana Government 's move to give status equivalent to Cabinet Minister to Baba Ramdev and asked the yoga guru to relinquish the rank.

New Delhi: Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi has lashed out at the Haryana Government 's move to give status equivalent to Cabinet Minister to Baba Ramdev and asked the yoga guru to relinquish the rank.

"On precedent created by Ramdev himself-refusing padma award as per himself-Ramdev must, at the least, relinquish cabinet rank now conferred," Singhvi said on twitter.

"First Padma now cabinet rank-how many showering a of gratitude by PM on baba Ramdev," he added.

Singhvi further questioned whether a Cabinet Minister can run a business as Ramdev is doing.

"Can any minister-MOS or Cabinet-run a business as Ramdev is doing? Is it actally permissible?" he asked.

"U/ the indian ction, no one can practise their profession or business if they r minister of any kind or hav ministerial status," Singhvi added.

Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar had earlier said that Ramdev had been given the responsibility as an ambassador of yoga and there was no need to make an issue of the decision.
