Sonia, Rahul should apologise to nation for 'pro-Pak' stand: BJP

BJP on Friday said that Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi should apologise to the nation for taking an "anti-India and pro-Pakistan stand" after the Coast Guard released a video of the Dec. 31 operation involving the Pakistan boat.

New Delhi: BJP on Friday said that Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi should apologise to the nation for taking an "anti-India and pro-Pakistan stand" after the Coast Guard released a video of the Dec. 31 operation involving the Pakistan boat.

"Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi should apologise to the nation for lowering the morale of the armed forces by taking an anti-India and pro-Pakistan stand," BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma said.

He said that the video released by the Coast Guard makes it clear that it was the occupants of the boat who had themselves blown up the vessel.

Sharma charged that Congress was taking an "anti-India" stand and that its spokespersons were going all out to attack the government over the issue.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar had on February 18 said that his ministry stands by the statement that the Pakistani boat blew itself up off Porbandar coast on New Year's night while hinting at disciplinary action against a senior Coast Guard officer who had claimed that the vessel was sunk by the force.
