Sting operation: Left Front wants Election Commission to act against Trinamool Congress

In the wake of a sting operation claiming several leaders of West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress purportedly accepting bribe, the opposition Left Front on Monday demanded the Election Commission to initiate suitable action in the matter.

Kolkata: In the wake of a sting operation claiming several leaders of West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress purportedly accepting bribe, the opposition Left Front on Monday demanded the Election Commission to initiate suitable action in the matter.

"The sting operation by Narada News has exposed Trinamool Congress leaders, ministers and MPs accepting bribe. This is not only unprecedented in Bengal but is also a glaring example of the corrupts ways of the state government," Left Front chairman Biman Bose said in a statement.

"We demand the EC verify the authenticity of the sting operation and initiate immediate steps," he said.

The Communist Party of India-Marxist led Front also called upon Leftists supporters and activists to build up movement against all the leaders caught in the sting and to stage protest movements across all the state.

The Trinamool has rubbished the claims of the sting operation calling the videos to be doctored and also threatened taking legal action against the news portal which has claimed as many as 11 Trinamool leaders including former union ministers accepted bribe.
