Subramanian Swamy alleges Raghuram Rajan 'leaking sensitive information', must be sacked

New Delhi: Stepping up his attack against RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan, BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy has now alleged that the latter is 'leaking' sensitive and confidential financial information to the world.

The BJP Rajya Sabha MP has made these charges against Rajan in a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to CNN News 18, Swamy, in his second letter to PM Modi, had listed six serious charges against Rajan while calling for his immediate removal.

“Despite being a government official, Rajan has been publicly disparaging of the BJP government. For example, he has by innuendos in effect held our government responsible for the ‘climate of intolerance’ in the country,” he reportedly said in the letter.

Asked about Swamy’s continuing attack on Rajan, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley Friday said, “I don’t approve of personal comments against anyone, let alone the RBI Governor.” The RBI, Jaitley said, is an important institution that makes its own judgements.

“One can agree or disagree with their judgement, but that’s a debate on issues. But I don’t think we should allow a public discourse where instead of debate on issues we concentrate on debate on persons,” Jaitley told a news channel.

Swamy also wrote, “As a professor of finance he ought to have known this would be the inevitable consequence of rising and high interest rate and hence his policy was willful and thus anti-national in intent,” he said.

“As Governor of RBI, Dr. Rajan has sent confidential and sensitive financial information to various persons around the world on his University of Chicago unsecure personal email address: raghuram.rajan@chicagobooth.edu. This is a reckless disregard of the national security interests of India,” he had said.
