New Delhi: The Congress party on Saturday hit back at BJP leader Subramanian Swamy who has filed the complaint in the National Herald case.

Speaking to reporters here ahead of the court appearance of party leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala alleged that Swamy is a stooge of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and was acting as a mask for him.

He is acting at the behest of PM Modi, Surjewala added.

Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Ghulam Nabi Azad asked why has the Centre allocated government accommodation to Swamy when he is not even an MP.

“The Centre has allotted Subramanian Swamy government accommodation and given him Z+ security. He is not an MP. He doesn't face security threat. It is a reward for him for dragging the Congress leadership to court,” Azad said.

“BJP used to raise a slogan 'Congress Mukt Bharat' ahead of General Elections. Now, they have amended that slogan to 'Vipaksh (Opposition) Mukt Bharat',” he added.
